The Ridgefield Playhouse brings the Bolshoi Ballet LIVE in HD for a Screening of the Fairytale Classic SLEEPING BEAUTY on 1/22

The Ridgefield Playhouse and Craig's Fine Jewelry Live in HD Series presents an HD screening of the enchanted fairytale classic, Sleeping Beauty, broadcast LIVE from the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow on Sunday, January 22 at 12:55 p.m. In this dazzling and magical classic, the Bolshoi dancers take us on a dream­?like journey through the classic fairytale, complete with jewel fairies, a magical kingdom, a youthful princess and a handsome prince in this purest style of classical ballet. The Bolshoi's magnificent staging with its luxurious sets and costumes gives life to Perrault's fairy tale unlike any other.

Tchaikovsky's score with choreography by Yuri Grigorovich makes this is a must-see for dance lovers of all ages! At the christening of princess Aurora, the evil fairy Carabosse throws a terrible curse upon her and predicts that she will prick her finger and die on her sixteenth birthday. Fortunately, the Lilac Fairy who has not yet offered her gift, lessens the curse: Aurora will be plunged into a deep sleep for a hundred years but will be awakened by a prince's kiss. The fateful birthday arrives and the king and queen urge the beautiful princess to choose a husband. Having forgotten about diabolical Carabosse, they do not notice that, disguised as an old woman, Carabosse is approaching Aurora.
