Shen Yun Performing Arts returns to New York with a bold, high-energy new production at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center, January 12-21, 2018. Tickets go on sale September 1 through http://www.shenyun.com/NY.

Through the universal language of music and dance, Shen Yun 2018 weaves a wondrous tapestry of 5,000 years of China's divinely inspired culture. Exquisite beauty from the heavens, profound wisdom from dynasties past, timeless legends and ethnic traditions all spring to life through classical Chinese dance coupled with enchanting orchestral music, authentic costumes, and dynamic animated backdrops. It's an immersive experience that will uplift your spirit and transport you to another world.

Classical Chinese dance is the foundation on which martial arts were born! Over the years, folk dancing, acrobatics, Chinese opera, and martial arts techniques honed on the battlefield have meshed into classical Chinese dance. Highly physical moves combined with delicate circular movements make classical Chinese dance one of the world's most precise and expressive art forms.

Each year an exciting new production is created and five touring companies travel the globe. The core of Shen Yun's performance is classical Chinese dance. "Shen Yun performs the essence of Chinese culture and the historical figures who have been nurtured by it," says H. Sue Gao, Vice President of Shen Yun's training school, Fei Tian College. The lives and heroic feats of legends like Mulan and Yue Fei are told with large animated backdrops and superbly crafted costumes.

The Shen Yun Orchestra combines the spirit, beauty and distinctiveness of Chinese traditional instruments with the precision, power and grandeur of the Western symphony orchestra. Top composers from around the world compose original music performed live by a 40-piece orchestra for each production. Leading the melody amidst a Western ensemble, instruments like the pipa and erhu ground the sound in a Chinese style.

What Shen Yun displays on stage is stunning beauty, purity, values such as loyalty, truthfulness and compassion, and energy that uplift and inspire the audience. Alessandra Marc, world-renowned soprano felt Shen Yun was "very, very moving in every way...it captivated all of my senses." From the San Francisco Opera House to Washington's Kennedy Center to the London Coliseum, Shen Yun has touched the hearts of millions of people worldwide.

China's culture-with its profoundly optimistic worldview and deep spiritual roots that emphasizes ethics and morality-was said to be a gift from the heavens. But under 60 years of communist rule, authentic Chinese culture and moral values have almost been lost. Based in upstate New York, Shen Yun is reviving this glorious heritage and sharing it with the world. That is why you cannot see a performance like Shen Yun in China today. Definitely don't miss Shen Yun! It's an experience that will take your breath away.
