Alvin Ailey's Sharon Gersten Luckman to Receive Alumni Achievement Award

Sharon Gersten Luckman, Executive Director of Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation since 1995, is this year's recipient of the University of Wisconsin Alumni Achievement Award; the highest honor bestowed by the University's School of Education.

Luckman was chosen for this honor based on her significant contributions to the field of dance and her exemplary record of professional leadership.

In support of the selection, Ailey Board Chair Joan Weill praised Luckman's leadership, "Sharon has led this organization to great heights." Artistic Director Judith Jamison affirmed that, "Sharon is an integral part of the bright light that now shines from Ailey's home. Her service to Alvin Ailey's pioneering legacy is immeasurable."

Ms. Luckman has previously received the Arts & Business Council's Encore Award for Arts Management Excellence, the Arts Management Award for Career Service, and the Signature Award for Community Leadership from the National Association of Women Business Owners.
