SALUTE TO VIENNA New Year's Concert Set for Orchestra Hall, 12/27

Celebrate the ageless beauty of Viennese music at Symphony Center's 18th annual New Year's Concert on Sunday, December 27th at 2:30 p.m. in Orchestra Hall.

Be swept away by the romance of Strauss waltzes - including the Blue Danube, and melodies from operettas. Enjoy a star-studded European cast of singers, beautifully costumed dancers and the Strauss Symphony of America, conducted by Viennese conductor Bernhard Schneider.

Viennese soprano Patricia Nessy and Canadian tenor Adam Luther will perform with members of the exquisite Kiev-Aniko Ballet of Ukraine and International Champion Ballroom Dancers. An enchanting way to celebrate the New Year with the entire family.

Salute to Vienna celebrates more than 20 years of New Year's concerts, rounding off the holiday season with entertaining, light-hearted performances in 23 North American cities this year. More than 60,000 concert-goers will party like it's 1899 between December 27 and January 3, when Salute to Vienna will kick off 2016 in the 80-year old tradition of Vienna's world famous "Neujahrskonzert". This concert is a musical confection. Discover the timeless pleasure of Vienna's most beautiful music for the first time this year, or continue the tradition with 2016's fresh new cast and concert.

The concert takes place in Orchestra Hall at Symphony Center, 220 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL 60604. Tickets range from $27-$125 and are available online at www.cso.org, or by calling: (312) 294-3000. For more information, visit www.salutetovienna.com or call (416) 323-1403.

Salute to Vienna returned to the city of its inspiration for a full-house performance at Vienna's Konzerthaus in 2013, co-hosted by internationally-renowned mezzo-soprano, Frederica von Stade and Academy Award-winning actor, Maximilian Schell. This made-for-public-television concert has aired more than 930 times (on over 80% of all PBS stations), and featured over 130 performers including the Symphony Orchestra of the Volksoper, Vienna, The Vienna Boys Choir, world-renowned singers, and dancers from the Association Vienna State Opera Ballet.
