Principal Oboe Elizabeth Koch Tiscione Makes ASO Solo Debut, Now thru 4/13

By:

Principal Oboe Elizabeth Koch Tiscione will make her Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (ASO) solo debut performing the challenging Strauss Oboe Concerto today, April 10 and 11, 2014, at 8:00 p.m., and April 13, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. in Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center.

The program, which will be led by Principal Guest Conductor Donald Runnicles, will also include Strauss's Metamorphosen and Beethoven's Symphony No. 7.

"I am beyond excited to make my Atlanta Symphony solo debut playing the Strauss Concerto with my amazing colleagues in the Orchestra," said Ms. Tiscione. "It will also be such an honor to collaborate with Donald Runnicles - one of the world's foremost masters of Strauss's music. I know it will be truly inspirational music-making, and I feel incredibly blessed to have this opportunity."

Of the work, Ms. Tiscione also said: "The Strauss concerto is a true challenge for any oboist because of its impossibly long phrases and marathon-esque physical demand, but all of the hard work will be worth it in the end. The beauty of Strauss's music is so incredible."

Tickets are $24-$75. Additional details are available at aso.org/tiscione.
