Pinckney- On February 25, 2016 the Pinckney Community School Orchestras and the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra will celebrate their tenth annual Side-By-Side concert at Jane Tasch Theater.

The Side-By-Side concert is sponsored by Citizen's Insurance Company and the Community Foundation for Livingston County and features the Pinckney Community schools 5th-12th grade orchestra students who will perform alongside members of the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra.

The orchestras, professionals and students, will perform the following repertoire:

  • ? D String Boogie

  • ? Fiddles on Fire

  • ? The Fourth movement from Dvorak's New World Symphony

  • ? Music from The Phantom of the Opera

  • ? Berceuse and Finale from Stravinsky's Firebird

  • ? The Overture from Rossini's Barber of Seville

The A2SO and Pinckney Community Schools are happy to welcome back flutist Kelly Sulick, Pinckney High School class of 2000. Kelly went on to receive degrees in Flute performance and English Language Literature from the University of Michigan, and a Masters in Flute Performance from the University of Southern California. She is currently Principal Flutist of the Charlottesville Symphony and Professor of Flute at the University of Virginia. Kelly will be the featured soloist at the Side-By-Side concert, performing Mozart's Andante in C with the combined Pinckney High School and Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra.

This evening's concert builds upon the first Side-By-Side concert that took place a decade ago. Years of collaboration between the Pinckney Community Schools and the A2SO include A2SO Conductor and Music Director Arie Lipsky working with all of the Pinckney orchestras in the weeks before the Side-By-Side concert as well as A2SO musicians working with each section of the orchestra in sectional rehearsals.

The Pinckney Elementary Schools enrich their music program by involving the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra with school assemblies where A2SO chamber ensembles perform, visits from Conductor Lipsky, and a trip to an A2SO Youth Concert at Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor.

Side-by-Side reserved seating tickets are $17. General Admission Tickets are $12, and are on sale at Pinckney Community Education at (810) 225-3950, Pinckney Central Offices at (810) 225-3900, and by calling Laura Brady at (810)231-2099 or laura.bethe3@gmail.com.
