Deportes Telemundo won two Sports Emmy® Awards given by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences at a gala ceremony yesterday night in New York. Telemundo received more nominations and awards than any other Hispanic broadcast network at the 35th Annual Sports Emmy® Awards, the first time specific categories for Spanish-language television were included. The World Cup classifying match between Mexico and Costa Rica on “Rumbo al Mundial” in October 2013 was recognized as “Outstanding Live Sports Coverage in Spanish” and the network's acclaimed sportscaster Andrés Cantor was honored as “Outstanding On-Air Sports Personality in Spanish.” Deportes Telemundo executives Jorge Hidalgo, Executive Vice-president of Sports, Eli Velázquez, Senior Vice-president of Sports, and Roberto Pardo, Vice-president of Sports Operations, accepted the award representing “Rumbo al Mundial.” Andrés Cantor has made his legacy felt since narrating his first World Cup, Italy 1990. He has narrated every FIFA World Cup since then, in addition to hundreds of Mexican league games on “Fútbol Estelar” and “Barclays Premier League por Telemundo,” as well as the Mexican national team's World Cup classification matches on “Rumbo al Mundial.” He gained international fame during the US 1994 World Cup, when his cry of “GOOOOAL!” became a national phenomenon that transcended cultural barriers and led to numerous awards and television appearances on US English-language television shows such as “The Late Show with David Letterman.” In 2000, Cantor became the first Hispanic to present men's and women's soccer in English for NBC, Telemundo's sister network, during the Sidney Olympic Games. In the years since, he has cemented his reputation as a leading host of Telemundo's award-winning Olympic coverage. Recently, Cantor was the only Spanish-language representative to be included in the official FIFA magazine's list of the world's top soccer commentators. This latest honor bring his Emmy® award count to three. Narrated by Cantor and his fellow Deportes Telemundo commentator Sammy Sadovnik, also nominated for a 35th annual Sports Emmy®, the World Cup classification game between Costa Rica and Mexico broadcast on “Rumbo al Mundial” on October 15, 2013, had an average audience of 4.63 million viewers, including 1.75 million men aged 18 to 49, making it one of the year's most watched sports events.

TBS has greenlit the workplace comedy Buzzy's, the latest series from David Kohan and Max Mutchnick, the Emmy(R)-winning creators of Will & Grace. Ashley Tisdale (High School Musical), Mike Castle (Family Trap), Lauren Lapkus (Orange Is the New Black), Ryan Pinkston (Tower Prep), Matt Cook (True Blood) and six-time Emmy(R) nominee George Wendt (Cheers) star in the ensemble comedy, which comes to TBS from KoMut Entertainment in association with Warner Horizon Television. Kohan and Mutchnick serve as executive producers on the series and penned the pilot, which was directed by James Widdoes (Two and a Half Men).

TNT has greenlit Public Morals, the highly buzzed-about police drama from writer, director, executive producer and star Edward Burns (Saving Private Ryan, The Brothers McMullen, TNT's Mob City). Set in New York in the 1960s, Public Morals also stars Michael Rapaport (Justified, Prison Break) and Elizabeth Masucci (The Americans, Inside Amy Schumer). The series marks TNT's latest collaboration with Amblin Television, and executive producers Steven Spielberg, Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank, the team behind the network's hit series Falling Skies. Also executive-producing is Aaron Lubin, who has produced several of Burns' feature films.

According to Variety, Wilson has been tapped to star in the remake of the 1980 comedy PRIVATE BENJAMIN for New Line. The studio is currently on the hunt for a director. Mark Gordon is attached to produce.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Laura Linney has signed on to join Ian McKellen in Bill Condon's upcoming Sherlock Holmes film A SLIGHT TRICK OF THE MIND. 'MIND' is based on Mitch Cullin's novel, and features a script by Jeffrey Hatcher.

Twilight Sparkle and her beloved pony friends will continue to celebrate the magic of friendship as the Hub Network announces season five of its hit animated series 'My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic.' The series, from Hasbro Studios, is slated to air in 2015 on the Hub Network, champions of family fun and the only network dedicated to providing kids and their families entertainment they can watch together. The network has ordered 26 episodes for season five.

TNT has greenlit the supernatural drama Proof, starring Jennifer Beals (The L Word, Flashdance), Matthew Modine (And the Band Played On, Weeds) and Joe Morton (Scandal, Terminator 2: Judgment Day). Also starring in the series are Callum Blue (Dead Like Me, Royal Pains), Edi Gathegi (X-Men: First Class, Justified), Annie Thurman (The Hunger Games), Sean Gleeson (Doctors, Cold Mountain) and newcomer Caroline Rose Kaplan.

According to Deadline, FOX has given a series order to Lee Daniels and Danny Strong's hip-hop drama EMPIRE, starring Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard. Howard recently starred in the pair's 2013 drama THE BUTLER.

Behind the strength of its Sunday night lineup, Bravo Media was the #1 ad-supported cable network for the night in primetime this past Sunday among all key demos, according to Nielsen. Sunday also marked the network's best night ever among all key demos and most watched day among total viewers. 'The Real Housewives of Atlanta' garnered a franchise reunion high among total viewers with 4.3 million and was the #1 unscripted cable entertainment telecast of the week among P18-49 with over 2.4 million. Immediately following, 'Watch What Happens Live,' hosted by Andy Cohen with guest Porsha Williams, scored over 3.9 million total viewers and 2.2 million P18-49, making it the highest-rated episode of the series to-date among all key demos. Rounding out the night, 'Married to Medicine' delivered over 2.3 million total viewers and was up 20 percent from the prior week among P18-49 with over 1.3 million. In addition, Bravo was the #1 most social cable network of the day and 'The Real Housewives of Atlanta' was the #1 most social cable program of the day on Sunday.

Driven by the success of the NBA Playoffs, TNT swept the field last week as basic cable's #1 network in primetime among total viewers, adults 18-49 and adults 25-54. TNT also dominated the race for young adults, ranking as television's #1 network among adults 18-34 in primetime. Additionally, TNT garnered first-place rankings in total day delivery of adults 18-49 and adults 25-54.

No matter what the top U.S. soccer players on Team USA may have accomplished in the past, no one is guaranteed to make the 23-man roster that's heading to Brazil for the World Cup, says their coach, Jurgen Klinsmann. And to make sure they stay on their toes, Klinsmann ratcheted up the competition for the coveted spots by recruiting American players in Europe.
