The More Please Orchestra Return with THE BEARD OF PARADISE

By:

The enigmatic, fabled underground magic realist anti-supergroup of psycho-sexual funk, diabolical disco and free range rock'n mayhem known as The More Please Orchestra have announced details of their annual, bearded get together at the Metro Theatre on Friday, 10 February 2017.

The More Please Orchestra showcases the host of Gardening Australia, Costa Georgiadis bouncing out of the foliage and into the funk! The band is the brainchild of musician and producer Sean Kennedy and is an alchemical cauldron of deep detoxification with the bonus of (Get On) UP-ological Rebirth.

The vast, rich pageant of aural magicians who make up The More Please Orchestra include members of Karma County, Primal Voices, The Aerial Maps, Palaces and more (see below for full band details)

The More Please Orchestra's 2+ hour set is a rollicking unexpected journey that will get everyone entranced to dance - featuring songs by Prince, Joy Division, James Brown, Kylie, Thelma Houston, Rick James, and even the likes of Billy Idol and many many more.

"Undo the safety straps. Rip off the training wheels. The More Please Orchestra is the ticket. All aboard! The beat. The buzz. The people. If gardening connects me to the earth, then The More Please Orchestra is my spaceship. With the band I can lift off into a gravity free funk orbit - I can't wait for 10 Feb!" said Costa Georgiadis.

Joining the Beard of Paradise as special guests are The Ironing Maidens and Giancarlo Ursino.

The Ironing Maidens deconstruct the role of the archetypal housewife, incorporating household items, primarily the domestic iron, to highlight the clear association with women and subservience. The domestic iron is sampled, deconstructed and repurposed to form and modulate layers within the creation of electronic music. Projected visuals, costumes, humour, theatrics and social commentary are threaded through the entertaining performance.

Giancarlo Ursino was born in Sydney and began playing the accordion when he was just 5 years old. By the time he was 7, he'd attended the local St George Eisteddfod and had won numerous trophies. At the age of 9 he appeared on the Australian TV program "Pot of Gold" and, in the late 1980s, went on to win both the Australian and Australasian Accordion Championships.
