Counted among the world's elite classical performers, The King's Singers with conductor Rob Fisher will join The New York Pops in the orchestra's 20th annual holiday celebration at Carnegie Hall on Friday, December 19 and Saturday, December 20 at 8:00 PM. Entitled 'A King's Singers Holiday,' the concert will include countless time-honored carols to ring in this sentimental season along with treasured songs by Irving Berlin, Jule Styne and Sammy Cahn. Mezzo-soprano Marilyn Horne will make a guest appearance on the program.

The program will feature music that spans many traditions over several centuries. True to the spirit of the season, the concert will be adorned with plenty of wit and charm from The King's Singers. They join The New York Pops to perform well-loved songs such as "O Holy Night," "The Little Drummer Boy" and "Wassail Song." Lucas Richman's "Hanukkah Festival Overture" and a new arrangement of "Jingle Bells" by Rob Fisher are among the pieces performed by the orchestra. Special guest Marilyn Horne will share her warmth and artistry in her rendition of "The Bethlehem Babe."

The King's Singers have put forth the highest caliber of a cappella performance since the group's inception at King's College, Cambridge in 1968. For 10 years, they have been Prince Consort Ensemble-in-Residence at the Royal College of Music, London. The King's Singers have commissioned works from many well-known composers including Richard Rodney Bennett, Luciano Berio, Peter Maxwell Davies, Gian Carlo Menotti and John Tavener. The King's Singers have recorded nearly 100 albums on the Signum Classics, BMG and EMI labels. They made their first appearance with The New York Pops in 1995.

Conductor Rob Fisher was music director and conductor of the Tony Award-winning Encores! series at New York City Center for which he was bestowed the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Special Achievement in 1997. In 2007, Mr. Fisher conducted the critically acclaimed revival of My Fair Lady with the New York Philharmonic and was Music Director of the 40th anniversary production of Hair at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. A King's Singers Holiday marks Mr. Fisher's eighth performance conducting The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall.

Marilyn Horne's five-decade career in opera, concert, and recital has been celebrated throughout the world for the power and artistry of her unique and dazzling mezzo-soprano coloratura, and for her revival of many forgotten Rossini, Handel, Vivaldi, and Bellini operas. In 1994, Ms. Horne launched the Marilyn Horne Foundation to support young singers and the art of the song. She is Vocal Program Director at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara. Marilyn Horne was a longtime friend of The New York Pops' late founder Skitch Henderson. December 19 and 20 marks her first appearance on a New York Pops holiday program.

The New York Pops <www.newyorkpops.org> was founded by former NBC Music Director Skitch Henderson in 1983 to give New York a permanent professional symphonic pops orchestra that would create greater public awareness and appreciation of America's rich and diverse musical heritage. The orchestra is now the largest independent symphonic pops orchestra in the United States.
