OzAsia Festival Honored for Contribution to SA and Hong Kong SAR/ China Relations

By:

Last Friday night, Adelaide Festival Centre's OzAsia Festival was honoured with an award from the South Australian chapter of the Hong Kong Australia Business Association, for their substantial contribution to the relationship between South Australia & Hong Kong SAR/China in the areas of Tourism, Hospitality or Recreation.

Douglas Gautier CEO & Artistic Director Adelaide Festival Centre accepted the award at a black tie dinner at the Entertainment Centre.

'OzAsia Festival is now our country's preeminent Asian/Australian cultural event; proof again of Adelaide's position as Australia's leading festival city. Hong Kong is a creative powerhouse in Asia, so this recognition of our partnership with this dynamic city is particularly pleasing.' says Douglas Gautier

Festival Director Jacinta Thompson says 'It is a great honour to receive this award following our National award win in May. It is a wonderful acknowledgement of the work that the OzAsia team has put in to the festival. Thank you to Hong Kong Australia Business Association - SA Chapter for their ongoing support'.

This is the second year in a row that Adelaide Festival Centre has won this accolade. In May Adelaide Festival Centre's OzAsia Festival was honoured with a national award from the Hong Kong Australia Business Association for Business Development.

The OzAsia Festival is the premier Australian event contributing to and engaging with the cultural landscape of our Asian region. The extensive program provides collaborations and integrates Australian artists who identify with an Asian heritage, with a collection of Asian artists; representing a unique cross?section of traditional and contemporary cultures of Asia.

The 2013 OzAsia Festival program will put the spotlight on Malaysia with a number of Malaysian performances as well as performances and events from a range of other Asian countries and of course Australia.

Proudly supported by Major Festival Partner Santos, this year's OzAsia Festival will run from 13 to 29 September and play host to 28 performances and 47 events featuring 195 artists and presenters from across the globe.
