Blockbuster Night of Jazz at the Scott Set for Tonight

Three music graduates from the Elder Conservatorium, who studied in the early 2000's and went on to create incredible careers for themselves in the world of jazz, come together for the first time in a jazz blockbuster, once only, concert at the Scott Theatre at 7.30pm tonight, 12 October. Topping the bill of this all-star, jazz-fest are Naomi Crellin, from The Idea of North; Julian Ferraretto, jazz violinist recently returned from London; and Adam Page multi-instrumentalist.

Joining the guests on the night are the Elder Conservatorium's noted jazz choir, The Adelaide Connection and the Elder Conservatorium Big Band 1 conducted by Dusty Cox. This is a memorable night of jazz headliners not to be missed by Adelaide jazz lovers. Program for this star studded night will include guest artists performing solo, duos, and together with the Big Band and the Adelaide Connection performing favourite numbers by jazz greats

This absolute in jazz concerts finishes with a huge finale when the Big Band are joined by all guest artists plus Luke Thompson, one of Adelaide's favourite performers, in a spectacular rendition of Every Day I Have The Blues - by Pinetop Sparks arranged by Ernie Wilkins.

BIOS:

Elder Conservatorium graduate Julian Ferraretto, violinist, has been in demand as a soloist and ensemble player both in and out of the UK Jazz scene since arriving from Australia in 2002. Appearances include: Wigmore Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Womadelaide, North Sea Jazz Festival, London Jazz Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Barbados Jazz Festival, Copenhagen Jazz Festival. Julian has recently returned to live in Adelaide.

Adam Page is originally from Adelaide, South Australia but now living in Wellington, New Zealand critically acclaimed Multi-Instrumentalist Adam Page has been performing his spontaneous, improvised looping show since 2006 and is at the forefront of a new and unique style of performing, recording live instruments into loop pedals and spontaneously composing intricate grooves in many different styles on an array of instruments. Adam has appeared in music festivals around the world including the Edinburgh Fringe, and Womadelaide.

NAOMI Crellin studied at the Elder Conservatorium as a classical pianist before turning to the dark side, graduating with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Voice from the Elder Conservatorium in 2001. In 2002, just four weeks after graduation, Naomi was invited to audition for The Idea of North, Australia's premiere contemporary a cappella quartet. After being appointed the alto position, she quickly became one of the group's main writers, and - despite being an alto - became the group's musical director a number of years ago.
