ADYO Presents its Maestros 3 Timeless Brilliance Concert

The dazzlingly elegant program planned for ADYO'S Maestros 3 Timeless Brilliance concert will have two performances - one at Elder Hall, Adelaide and the other in McLaren Vale at Tatachilla Lutheran College.

This majestic program will introduce Carl Maria von Weber's Concerto for Bassoon in F Major, to be performed by young bassoonist Christopher Buckley, 22 who won the highly competitive ADYO concerto competition earlier this year.

The first ever bassoonist to win this competition, Christopher had to compete against 15 other highly talented young musicians.

He is absolutely thrilled - "Performing the Weber Bassoon Concerto with an orchestra has been a dream since I first heard it, about five years ago.

"Playing as a soloist with an orchestra in Adelaide is an incredibly rare opportunity, and AdYO's concerto competition is, more or less, the only way to have that experience.

"To win this competition is incredibly exciting to me, and I can't think of a better piece to share this through than the Weber."

Christopher is an Adelaide-born bassoonist currently in the final year of his Bachelor of Music at the Elder Conservatorium where he is a recipient of the Victor Allen Edgeloe Scholarship.

He is an alumni of the Adelaide Youth Orchestras having progressed through the ranks of Adelaide Youth Sinfonia, Youth Wind Orchestra to the flagship Adelaide Youth Orchestra. Christopher hopes to continue his studies overseas and someday play professionally in a symphony orchestra.

Other works featured in the concert include Dvorak's fun-filled, bubbly, Carnival Overture and Tchaikovsky's much-loved, epic Symphony No 5 in E Minor.
