Theatreworks New Milford Presents ALL ABOUT EVE Reading On 5/21

By:

On Thursday, May 21, TheatreWorks New Milford will present a free staged reading of the classic film, All About Eve, at 8:00 pm, at the Theatre, 5 Brookside Ave, in New Milford. The reading will be followed by a wine and cheese reception.

All About Eve tells the story of Margo Channing, one of the biggest stars on Broadway. But in spite of her unmatched success, she is beginning to show her age - "The Big 4-0." After a performance one night, she encounters a young woman named Eve Harrington, who claims to be her biggest fan and an aspiring actress. Gradually, Eve insinuates herself into Margo's life ultimately proving that she is nothing but a scheming woman who plans to take from Margo everything she holds dear: her lover, her friends, her stage career, and her fame.

Hailed by critics at the time of its release, All About Eve was nominated for 14 Academy Awards and won six, including Best Picture of 1950. The film starred Bette Davis, Anne Baxter, George Sanders, Celeste Holm, and showcased Marilyn Monroe in one of her earliest roles.

"It's true that All About Eve is not a stage play, but it's a classic screenplay about theatre. All about theatre," said director Joe Russo. "I think our audience is in for a lot of fun, but they'd better fasten their seat belts. It's going to be a bumpy night."

The cast includes: Katherine Almquist (Sharon), Peter McGee (New Fairfield), Alicia Dempster (Danbury), John Taylor (Sherman), Jonathan Ross and KC Ross (both Thomaston), Vicki Sosbe, Jackie Decho-Holm, Kevin Bielmeier, and Beth Harvison (all New Milford).

The event is free, but reservations must be made by calling (860) 350-6863 or by visiting the website at www.theatreworks.us.

TheatreWorks is an award-winning, professional non-Equity theatre company located on 5 Brookside Avenue, just off Route 202 (next to the CVS), in New Milford, CT.
