WhatsOnStage.com is reporting that the smash musical 'HAIRSPRAY' will launch its first-ever UK tour in 2010, with Michael Ball reprising his acclaimed role as big mama Edna Turnblad, for which he won both the Whatsonstage.com and Laurence Olivier Awards for Best Actor in a Musical.
HAIRSPRAY will play the MUNY from August 3rd thru the 9th, it will be directed by Matt Lenz with choreography by Michele Lynch. It features a book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan, and a score by five-time Academy Award nominee Marc Shaiman (who co-wrote the music and lyrics for the acclaimed animated musical, South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut) and lyrics by Shaiman and Scott Wittman.
