Signature Theatre has its 'Sizzlin' Summer Cabaret' series with visits from Broadway favorites Marc Kudisch and Julia Murney, and Signature favorites Erin Driscoll, Sandy Bainum, and Lauren Williams. The talk of the town is Cate Blanchett visiting The Eisenhower Theatre at The Kennedy Center, where a hundred yards away Wicked is playing to SRO audiences (what else is new?).

Guild Festival Theatre celebrates its first annual season of classical theatre with a rare open-air rendition of Anton Chekhov's masterpiece, The Cherry Orchard. Now in its final two weeks, it runs through to July 31 at the majestic outdoor Greek Theatre in the Guild Inn Gardens.This story of a family faced with the ultimatum of having to auction off their beloved country home in the face of social upheaval and commercial exploitation opens July 7 and runs until July 31 at the majestic outdoor Greek Theatre in the Guild Inn Gardens, the first production to be presented there in several years, directed by Guild Festival Theatre founding Artistic Director Sten Eirik.

Robert Lindsay and Joanna Lumley will lead the cast in Trevor Nunn's production of James Goldman's The Lion in Winter. The Lion in Winter will run from 4 November - 28 January, with press night on 15 November 2011. The Lion in Winter is produced by the Theatre Royal Haymarket Company. The Private Theatre's Summer Scene Intensive consists of 6 rigorous weeks of class. It is designed to work through three genres of scene study: Classical (Shakespeare, 15th Century drama, etc.), 19th & 20th Century (Chekhov, Ibsen, Shaw, etc.), and Contemporary scenes. Everyone will work during every class and it is expected that everyone rehearse outside of class. The final class will be open to the public.
