The Film Society of Lincoln Center Presents COWARD ON FILM, Now thru 5/13

The Film Society of Lincoln Center previously announced the schedule for COWARD ON FILM (May 11-13), which runs in conjunction with the ongoing citywide festival STAR QUALITY: THE WORLD OF NOËL COWARD honoring the British playwright, actor, director and composer. The series will trace the breadth of his film work, which ranges from British silent and sound adaptations of his early plays to the later prestige productions of his works made in Hollywood. Notable films from his multi-film collaboration with the young David Lean will also be highlighted, as well as his celebrated cameo appearances in others' films.

Mint Theater Spring Benefit will feature a reading of The Importance Of Being A Woman, a one-act play by Rachel Crothers, with a cast led by Sara Surrey (Rutherford and Son), Samantha Soule (A Little Journey), Kate Levy (Return of the Prodigal, Soldier's Wife), and Stephen Schnetzer (Mr. Pim Passes By, The Truth About Bladys) tonight, April 23rd at The Cosmopolitan Club (122 East 66th Street). Eleanor Reissa directs. Leslie Hendrix (Susan from Mint's production of Susan and God and a fixture on "Law and Order" for 19 years as Dr Elizabeth Rogers) is going to introduce the evening.

Janis Siegel, Laurel Masse, and Lauren Kinhan, who form the singing group JaLaLa, recently wowed a packed Joe's Pub with a tight 75-minute program that was short on patter but long on wonderful harmonic collaboration, reminiscent of the great girl groups from the Boswell Sisters in the 1930 to The Ronettes and The Chiffons in the '60s.

But this fall, the stars will come out for Theatricum in November - that is, the Hollywood stars. A Sunday afternoon benefit for the theater company, one of Los Angeles' oldest and most respected, is set to take place on November 20 @ 3:30 pm at Topanga's historic Mountain Mermaid.
