Tonight, April 28, 2014, The New York Pops marks its 31st birthday with a grand gala evening celebrating the work of composer, lyricist, and arranger Marc Shaiman and director, lyricist, and writer Scott Wittman, as well as the leadership and mentorship work of corporate honoree Paul J. Massey, Jr., CEO and Founding Partner of Massey Knakal Realty Services. Gala Co-Chairs include Neil Heilberg, Todd Korren, William C. Montana, and James A. Read. Serving as Honorary Co-Chairs for the event are stars Matthew Broderick, Debra Messing, and Sarah Jessica Parker. The event will also feature Broadway Inspirational Voices, Ronald McDonald House® Rockin' the House Band and Singers, Camp Broadway Kids, and The New York Pops Kids On Stage Students. Following the concert, a black tie dinner dance will be held at the elegant Mandarin Oriental New York. Bay Street Theatre has announced the full cast and creative team for the World Premiere of CONVICTION (May 27-June 15) by Carey Crim and directed by Scott Schwartz, Bay Street's new Artistic Director. The production is co-produced by Bay Street Theatre, Rubicon Theatre in California, Dead Posh Productions, London and Canada's Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre.

Manhattan Theatre Club's limited engagement of Outside Mullingar closes today, March 16, at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. Outside Mullingar was written by Tony and Oscar winner John Patrick Shanley and directed by Tony Award winner Doug Hughes. This critically acclaimed play originally opened January 23. MTC's production was its world premiere.

Debra Messing has landed the lead role in NBC drama pilot “The Mysteries of Laura,” Variety has confirmed. Messing will play Detective Laura Diamond, a female homicide detective who can handle criminals — but not her hell-raising twin children.
