It is very probably the best acted performance of the show I have ever seen and fully worthy of the fantastic reviews it has received. Today, the Toronto Star is reporting that composer Andrew Lloyd Webber came to town on Saturday to see the production which has been generating potential Broadway buzz. If true, the production would come to town along with another bible based revival - the already confirmed GODSPELL.

On Friday June 3rd Des McAnuff's new production of Jesus Christ Superstar opened at Stratford's Avon Theatre as part of the 2011 Stratford Shakespeare Festival's Season. People have been buzzing about it ever since. The rock musical has been re-envisioned by legendary director McAnuff, and BWW is thrilled to bring its readers photos from the show. The acclaimed Stratford Festival production of A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum has its Toronto debut this weekend! Mirvish Productions is mounting a month long production of the Sondheim classic, with Bruce Dow and Sean Cullen alternating the lead role of Pseudolus. Both extremely funny and talented stars in their own right, this is a unique opportunity to see two very different takes on the role. Toronto's The Stratford Shakespeare Festival has revealed revealed additional casting for its 2010 season. The stars include Christopher Plummer, Chilina Kennedy, Juan Chioran, Michael Therriault and Geraint Wyn Davies for the Festival's productions of The Tempest, Evita, Kiss Me Kate, Peter Pan and Do Not Go Gentle. Nikki M. James, who was previously set to star alongside Plummer has withdrawn from the festival due to 'personal reasons.'

Sean Cullen To Sub For Injured Bruce Dow In Stratford Fest's 'FORUM'

The Stratford Shakespeare Festival announces that Seán Cullen will be stepping in to assume the role of Pseudolus in the current production of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Bruce Dow, who was originally cast in the role and has had audiences rolling in the aisles since previews began, has had to withdraw from the 2009 season because of an injury that has caused him to miss some recent performances. In order to fully heal, he needs an extended period of recovery.
