Great Lakes Theater ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR “CLASSICS ON TOUR” PRODUCTION SHERLOCK HOLMES MEETS THE BULLY OF BAKER STREET

Great Lakes Theater (GLT) announces open auditions for non-equity actors for the Classics On Tour production SHERLOCK HOLMES MEETS THE BULLY OF BAKER STREET, a play for young audiences, written by Education Outreach Associate David Hansen, and inspired by characters created by Arthur Conan Doyle. SHERLOCK HOLMES MEETS THE BULLY OF BAKER STREET will tour to 50 community venues in northern Ohio between February 4 and March 8, 2020, Tuesdays through Sundays, often two performances daily. The play will be directed by GLT Director of Educational Programming Lisa Ortenzi.

Synopsis:
Join the world’s greatest detective as he utilizes his remarkable skills of observation and deduction to confront his most sensational mystery – but who is the Bully of Baker Street? An intrepid band of actors will use humor, logic, and song to perform this original tale (adapted from the works of Arthur Conan Doyle) and provide important lessons in problem solving and empathy.

Eligibility:
Those auditioning should bring a headshot and resume and prepare two contrasting monologues. Total audition time should not exceed three minutes. Applicants must have a driver license and a reliable automobile. A background check will also be required. Audition slots are available on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Audition sessions will take place in the Playhouse Square “Green” Rehearsal Hall, 1650 Chester Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44114. Callbacks will be held Wednesday, September 25.

Available Roles:
Seeking four ensemble performers of diverse cultures, perspectives, skills and experiences (age range: 20s – 40s) to portray nine characters. Actors who play a musical instrument are encouraged, though not required, to bring it to the initial audition. Evening/daytime rehearsals begin Monday, January 13, 2020, but preliminary costume fittings will be scheduled in November 2019. All positions are paid.
