Studio Theatre Worcester is excited to announce PAID/Non-Union auditions for our Spring production of Next to Normal, directed by John Wayland Somers. Auditions will be March 12-14. Rehearsals start April 2. Performances are June 16-19 and 24-26. Actors will receive a modest stipend of $250.
All actors must be fully vaccinated and, if applicable, boosted.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
DIANA
Female-identifying. Any ethnicity. Stage age range 40+. Vocal range Mezzo/belter: G3-F#5. Delusional, bipolar, and depressed. The sexiness of her yesterdays has only recently begun to soften. She is determined to make her family perfect but is tortured by a death in the family.
NATALIE
Female-identifying. Any ethnicity. Stage age range 16-18. Vocal range Mezzo/belter: G3-G5. Diana & Dan's troubled daughter. An accomplished pianist and hardworking student, her struggles are exacerbated by her mother's behavior. She greatly admires Henry.
DAN
Male-identifying. Any ethnicity. Stage age range 40+. Vocal range Bari/Tenor: Ab2-B4. Diana's husband. He is handsome and genuine. Though a constant in Diana's tumultuous life, he has grown tired and weary of her antics.
GABE
Male-identifying. Any ethnicity. Stage age range 16-18. Vocal range Tenor: B2-C5. Diana & Dan's son. Dashing, athletic, and bright. He is a playful man and everything a mother could imagine.
HENRY
Male-identifying. Any ethnicity. Stage age range 16-18. Vocal range Tenor: G#2-B4. Natalie's classmate. The all-around musician, philosopher, and slacker. He has an intoxicating capacity for sympathy and romance.
DR. MADDEN/DR. FINE
Male-identifying. Any ethnicity. Stage age range 25+. Vocal range Tenor: A2-A4. Diana's handsome psychiatrist. Quite assured in his practice and considered somewhat of a rock star.
