HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS... - The Susan Katz Theatre

A satire of big business and all it holds sacred, How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying follows the rise of J. Pierrepont Finch, who uses a little handbook to climb the corporate ladder. With songs by
Frank Loesser, this comic gem won both the Tony Award for Best Musical and a Pulitzer Prize. The exhilarating score includes I Believe in You, Brotherhood of Man and The Company Way.

AUDITIONS

  • Tuesday, September 5th from 7-10pm
  • Wednesday, September 6th from 7-10pm
  • Thursday, September 7th from 7-10pm (final callbacks/dance audition)
  • Location: The Susan Katz Theatre at the River of Grass Arts Park, 17195 Sheridan St., Pembroke Pines, FL 33331
  • Prepare 16-32 bars of a musical theatre song that suits your vocal abilities
  • Bring sheet music (an accompanist will be available)
  • All performers will be asked to belt
  • Bring your resume and headshot
  • Bring a list of your scheduling conflicts
  • You may be asked to read from the script

REHEARSALS

  • Monday through Thursday evenings from 6:30-10pm beginning Monday September 11th
  • Sunday afternoons from 12-6pm beginning Sunday, September 17th

ROLES

The show requires a large cast, and features adult performers of all ages. In addition to several speaking roles, the ensemble is showcased and is an integral part of the production.

  • J. Pierrepont Finch - clerk who quickly ascends the corporate ladder
  • J.B. Biggley - boss of the company
  • Rosemary - secretary who becomes Finch's love interest
  • Bud Frump - Biggley's arrogant and lazy nephew
  • Hedy LaRue - Biggley's attractive and dim-witted mistress
  • Miss Jones - Biggley's secretary
  • Book voice - narrator of the book, How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying
  • Mr. Bert Bratt - personnel manager
  • Mr. Twimble - head of the mail room for 25 years
  • Smitty - Rosemary's best friend and fellow secretary
  • Mr. Milton Gatch - head of the plans and systems department
  • Miss Krumholtz - secretary to Mr. Gatch
  • Mr. Benjamin Burton Daniel Ovington - prospective head of the advertising department referred to as
    BBDO
  • Mr. Wally Womper - chairman of the board, usually played by the same actor as Twimble
  • Multiple executives and secretaries with singing/dancing skills
