This is part of the Greater Philadelphia Annual Auditions (GPAA)

Preparation
All actors will be given 3 minutes to perform: 2 song selections, a song/monologue combination, or 1 monologue. You will be contacted by a staff member to confirm an appointment and will be required to send forty photocopies of your headshot for the attending organizations

Roles of PLAYWRIGHT/WAHNOTEE/LAFOUCHE and ASSISTANT/PETE/PAUL have already been cast.

Seeking:

BJJ/GEORGE/M’CLOSKY:
Male. 20s-30s. African-American/Black. Young contemporary playwright who is inquisitive, ironic, and unapologetic. Also plays the classical roles of George (wealthy inheritor of the plantation, in love with Zoe) and M’Closky (cold and calculating).

ZOE:
Female, 20s-30s, Octoroon/White/Quadroon/Multi-Racial. The love interest of George and M’Closky. Kind, innocent, and naïve.

DORA:
Female, 20s-30s, White. Southern belle who is desperate to marry.

MINNIE:
Female, 20s-30s, African-American/Black. One of the slaves on the plantation. Often trying and failing to keep up with everything going on. Trusting and light-hearted. Best friends with Dido.

DIDO:
Female, 20s-30s, African-American/Black. One of the slaves on the plantation. She is the one you would go to for help or a slap in the face. Dry, ironic and wise. Best friends with Minnie.

GRACE:
Female, 20s-30s, African-American/Black. One of the slaves on the plantation. Pregnant. Often forgetful and does not get along well with others.

BR'ER RABBIT/RATTS:
Male, any age, any ethnicity. Mischievous and silent observer of the play/world; a trickster. Ratts is a Salty Sea Captain, easily persuadable.
