JDW Festival to Feature Works of New Choreographers, 4/16-17

Celebrating its fourth annual festival, Jump On the DanceWagon (J/DW) returns to the Ailey Citigroup Theater with a collection of various contemporary performances by four up-and-coming choreographers. Representing a wide range of age, experience, movement style, and culture, this year's festival introduces a new generation of choreographers to the world including Amy Jordan (Victory Dance Project), Cecly Placenti (Six Degrees Dance Company), Mala Desai (Mala's Odissi), and Nicholas Grubbs. Choreographer Amy Jordan's company, The Victory Dance Project, will celebrate its first anniversary this week with an evening of dance entitled People, Power and Possibility on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at 7 pm at The Ailey Citigroup Theater, 405 West 55th Street (at 9th Avenue). The evening will honor former Ailey star Principal Dancer Renee Robinson, who will receive the company's First Annual Artist for Peace Award and will feature five works choreographed by Jordan.
