Summer Education Program Assistant

Gulfshore Playhouse, one of the nation’s finest regional theatres, located in Naples, FL is
seeking a Summer Education Program Assistant for Employment from May 29 – July 28. Join us

professional theatre in Southwest Florida.

Gulfshore Playhouse offers a diverse season of straight plays and musicals ranging from
venerated classics and Broadway hits to contemporary works and world premieres. The
Playhouse is passionately committed to producing high-quality, professional theatre which
exceeds the expectations of the cultured residents and visitors of Naples, FL, many of whom
are regular theatre patrons in New York, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.

Gulfshore Playhouse has performed for many years in an intimate 200-seat venue at the Norris
Center, a municipal building run by the City of Naples. The Playhouse is in the final phases of a
$72M capital campaign and has broken ground on the Baker Theatre and Education Center, a
state-of-the-art facility, featuring a 350-seat mainstage with a Broadway-sized stage, a 125-seat
flexible space, rehearsal studios, classrooms, and rental space. In 2022, Gulfshore Playhouse
became nationally recognized as the 77th member of the League of Resident Theatres (LORT).
This is an extraordinarily exciting time for the Playhouse, which is experiencing unprecedented
growth.


The Summer Education Program Assistant reports directly to the Gulfshore Playhouse Director
of Education and is responsible for ensuring the participating students have a successful,
educational, and engaging experience.

Status: Full-time: May 29th – July 28th

Fee is $650.00 per week and includes housing.

Start Date: May 29th

Summer Education Program Assistant Key Responsibilities include:

  • Work closely with the full-time Education staff to plan and lead activities for summer production programs, classes, and workshops built to reinforce acting fundamentals
  • Assist the education and stage management teams for the Summer Conservatory Education Productions and Broadway Bootcamps as needed
    – Program #1: Ages 5-7
    – Program #2: Ages 5-7
    – Program #3: Ages 8-13
    – Program #4: Ages 5-7
    – Program #5: Ages 5-7
    – Program #6: Ages 8-18
  • Communicate with and maintain a positive rapport with parents
  • Assist with student drop-off and pick-up
  • Supervise camper breaks such as lunch, snack, and restroom needs.
  • Assist in keeping facilities organized and ensuring the program areas are maintained for overall safety
  • Work closely with program staff to assist with rehearsal needs (supplies, student support, etc.)
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Director of Education, Managing Director, or Producing Artistic Director.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to work effectively with teachers, students, volunteers, and fellow staff.
  • Resourceful; creative problem solver
  • Knowledge of theatre pedagogy and technical theatre
  • Ability to maintain a positive and encouraging attitude
  • Ability to show patience and adaptability when working with students

    Experience and Qualifications:
  • In college or graduated
  • Teaching, youth work and/or training experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and written
  • Ability to pass a background check for working with children
