Sound Technician

Gulfshore Playhouse, a not-for-profit, professional theatre company located in Naples, FL is
seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented and organized individual to serve as Sound Technician.
Gulfshore Playhouse offers a diverse season of straight plays and small musicals ranging from
venerated classics and Broadway hits to contemporary works and world premieres. The
Playhouse is passionately committed to producing high-quality, professional theatre which
exceeds the expectations of the cultured residents and visitors of Naples, FL, many of whom
are regular theatre patrons in New York, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.

Gulfshore Playhouse has performed for many years in an intimate 200 seat venue at the Norris
Center, a municipal building run by the City of Naples. The Playhouse is currently in the middle
of a $66M capital campaign to build a state-of-the-art theatre and education center, featuring
two theatres and education space. The project is currently in the construction phase.

Job Duties include but not limited to:

● Assist Sound Supervisor on all sound elements, realizing sound designs as
envisioned by the sound designers, directors, and Producing Artistic Director
● Assist in coordinate all purchases, rentals, and borrows necessary for the realization
of sound designs
● Assist with analyzing the feasibility of all sound designs with regard budget, physical
and electrical limitations at the venue
● Assist Sound Supervisor and Lighting Supervisor in the hang, focus, strike, and
general upkeep of each production
● Coordinate sound needs for rehearsals/events
● Operate the sound and light boards for assigned performances
● Conduct preshow checks and perform any necessary troubleshooting for
performances
● Maintain excellent communication with stage management, production staff, and
backstage team throughout the production process on assigned shows.
● Check daily stage manager rehearsal and performance reports for notes concerning
lighting or sound that need to be addressed
● Follow through with completion of daily notes as assigned by Sound Supervisor
● Assist in other departments, including but not limited to carpentry, paints, props, and
costumes
● Adhere to all safety protocols at all times
● Provide support for special events
● Any other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate is a strong, team-spirited self-starter who is excited to join a tireless,
rapidly-growing, and attitude-forward regional theatre. Candidates should be friendly, excellent
with patrons, staff, and visiting actors alike, and possess excellent communication and
organizational skills. The Playhouse values hard work, kindness, generosity, passion, and
grace-under-pressure. Employee will be expected to work extended hours on occasion when
necessary to meet goals. Weekend and evening hours are required including attendance at
assigned performances, special events, and/or meetings that may happen outside normal
hours.

Qualifications:

● One to two years experience in the field (including at the college level)
● Classwork or experience in sound and lighting
● Experience in carpentry, paints, costumes or props a plus but not required

Contract Dates:
Full Time Seasonal Position From ASAP – May 26, 2024

Compensation:
$16/hr with overtime after 40 hours in a week

Benefits:
Housing with private bedroom and shared living space available for $1,100 per month deducted
from salary. Internet and cable included with washer and dryer in apartment. Apartment complex has a pool and fitness center on site.
