Forbidden Chocolate
The new London production of this long running Broadway favorite is just about to open.
It will be interesting to see how it works this time.
Three months is along long booking for a show that has never made more than 6 weeks in previous stagings.
I'm not sure I want to sit through it again as whatever production you see it will contain some of its oldest material which now is very tired.
As was mentioned on a different thread, it has never worked in the UK and it is a strange one for the Menier to take on.
Anyone going?

Some of the new material is good WICKED and HAIRSPRAY. I wonder if PRISCILLA will get a nod?

As a limited run, I think it will be fine and it's well suited to the Menier. It will be interesting how they adapt it for West End audiences and hopefully they have some new material although some of the old stuff is hilarious. I think Sister Act, Priscilla and Oliver! would be very good targets.

I'll be there on Saturday July 18th. The many times I've seen it Off-Broadway it has often been the best value for money of any show with more laughs than all the other shows put together. Of course it helps if you've seen all the shows being spoofed.

I'm seeing it on 14th July with a friend who's never seen it in NYC, so I won't mind if there's some classic stuff I've watched before (esp the Les Mis stuff) and I'm sure many people in the audience won't be that familiar with previous revues.

I'm also hoping that it will cast it's eye over some of the current big shows in London such as Sister Act, Oliver, Priscilla - even (maybe ESPECIALLY!) We Will Rock You. re: Forbidden Chocolate
Seen some shows in my time....

Actually, I'd rather eat a large tub of grease (and I'm on a diet!).
