Howard Panter, the co-founder of the Ambassador Theater Group, which will be represented on Broadway this season with the revivals of Guys and Dolls and Exit the King, has several other theatre projects in mind.

According to Variety, Panter's upcoming plans include a new production of Frank Loesser's The Most Happy Fella, which would be directed by The Drowsy Chaperone's Casey Nicholaw; a New York run of Simon Bent's Elling, which was seen in London but would be directed in Manhattan by Doubt's Doug Hughes; a transfer of the current London revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Sunset Boulevard, which features its cast doubling as musicians; and a New York run of the recent London production of Neil LaBute's Fat Pig.

Howard Panter seems to make something of a habit of making these announcements. Last year he was in Melbourne for the opening of GUYS AND DOLLS and made similar comments in regard to plans for shows here and nothing came of it, so I tend to take his announcements with a grain of salt.

'Sunset' is certainly going to New York at the end of 2009.
Mr Panter, yes, does have a habit of over announcing projects and has had his hand slapped many a times for it.

Sunset Boulevard certainly deserves the trip to Broadway.

I saw it for the second time last week as I said and while there I spoke to a manager who told us that there had been 2 or 3 people over from New York already and talks had started. great news- Broadway deserves this one.
