London's Avenue Q New Lyric#1
Posted: 1/24/09 at 4:06am
Well, with this show soon to close, we were expecting "This Show" to replace "George Bush" But this has not happened,

Neither have we received any of the 4 being tested on Broadway,

We have the, (Rather shoddily if you ask me) "The Credit Crunch"

I dont like this, and think "Your Bank" would fit so much better, but we'll see what happens, this may not be the long term decision, but was certainly the sung lyric two nights ago!

'Your bank' would be a tad insensitive really, and not funny. Considering your technically trying to make a joke of banks going bust and people losing jobs and money.

The Credit Crunch is at least more general, although I agree not the best fit. The ideal solution is either turn it to 'George Bush WAS only for now' which kinda works, or 'This show' which is (especially for London) the best option. However im guessing they have to wait for the official result from NYC before they can use 'this show' as its one of the four in the running.

Four syllables? That IS a bit shoddy.

Thats brilliant Phantom, and fits in perfectly, although I would change it to "Bush drama is now over, now Obama is in and he's made Guantanamo Bay only for now!"

You know.... to keep in line with the rest of the song!

That is excellent with the Guantanamo Bay add in, I was thinking on those lines, but was thinking more on orange suits, but could not get anything to rhyme!

I don't think 'your bank' is any more offensive than 'your hair'.

The line doesn't have to be offensive, just relevant. I honestly wonder if perhaps "Gordon Brown," "Darling," or my favourite, "Jacqui Smith" could make it into the trials.

Either way, I suspect I'll find out when I go next month - a friend is an understudy in the cast and going on for a week.

I think it has to stay relative to America really, and I think the "Insert name of a current s**t leader" is only for now, joke has wore thin!

I think they will end up using "This Show" Especially once we're into the second part of February and start of March!

You might be able to squeeze in the extra syllable of 'Big Brother', though.
