Well, for a start it didn't get bad reviews, it got middling reviews, with a lot of reviewers saying it wasn't as bad as the vultures were predicting.

For a second it is an ambitious and original work (even if it may not fully realise those ambitions).

For a third the photos on the website look really good.

For a fourth I bet it is better than Gone With The Wind or Marguerite.

I'm seeing it Saturday...

For a fifth it's got to be better than We Will Rock You and other commercial jukebox rubbish by amateurs defacating on stage to try and make money.

For a sixth Peter Polycarpou is a great performer (listen to him on OLC of Miss Saigon).

(thanks for the tip about Lastminute.com Sam re: Imagine This Help )

Good reasons to see the show...

1- I'm sure there'll be plenty of leg room to stretch out.

2 - I'm sure there'll be plenty of space to put any coats or spare bags.

I'm glad i could be of service!
Tbh when you go, if you find they've given you crappy seats (which lastminute.com rarely ever do) there's sure to be a chance for you to move a few rows foward at least.

I wish this show had been given more of a chance...

Sadly, compared to "Imagine This" both GWTW and Marguerite were masterpieces.

They said that about my beloved Susan? They must have been joking, naturally.

I saw Imagine This last night and while I loved the score, the direction, the design and the cast a delight, I found the plot and script actually quite offensive.

However, I was towards the back of the stalls which were less than half full, so there was a kind of sitting room feel to it.We loafed, we lounged, we chatted, we took our shoes off, I went to the loo three times during the first act (bloody wine), and nobody was near enough to give a sh*t.

I only stayed for the second act because an usher reassured me that the second act was much shorter than the bladder torture of the first. I nipped across to Subway, phoned my mum to tell her how sh*t the show was and ignored the calls while I finished my ciggie. I came in just as the second act was starting, hurled my coat and bag onto the row of empties behind us, kicked my shoes off and reclined in my seat and enjoyed my Subway club while the Jews were gunned down in a patronising and insultingly incredulous display of martyrdom.

Lovely.

"Don't go! Please stay for the second act!"

"Does it get better?"

"It's . . . shorter . . ."

A ringing endorsment re: Imagine This Help I'm still going to try and see this next week - sounds like it may not last too much longer. I'm planning to get the cheapest seats in the hope of an upgrade...

Oh my Lord, you'll get one. There was nobody in the circle at all last night. Don't go too far to the front though, as you might get spat on. Or shot, whatever.

***i cannot believe any piece of musical theatre could ever make GWTW look like a masterpiece!***

Frankly the creators of Imagine This could rewrite the musical so that instead of presenting Masada as the show within the show they used Behind The Iron Mask, they could then swap the title song Imagine This for the hits of Imagination and in a final coup de théâtre they could use the cast of Starlight Express to play the role of Holocaust trains.

Even then it would still fail to make GWTW look like a masterpiece.

affencesive

I'm fairly sure nothing about this show could offend me as much as this bizarre spelling of "offensive". re: Imagine This Help

And 'Gone with the Wind' was a TOTAL masterpiece! The book was SO terrible and the resulting show SO horrible that the whole affair simply MUST have been a post-modern art installation of some kind! Because there's no way anyone could possibly have thought it was a good enough show to invite the public to pay to see!
