I think the music sounds 'nice' but a bit dated, the production values look good though.Hopefully the press will give it the bump it needs, after all its nice to have a new British musical

The more I listen to the score the more I like this. I also hope it succeeds and that it gets amazing reviews. The subject matter is very difficult and sensitive - there are still people for whom this is a living memory - and so the production team must not accept anything less than exemplary work from themselves. Hopefully they will have realised this and addressed any issues that arose during the out-of-town tryout.

Best wishes to all involved.

Scripps thats exactly how i felt about it. The score grew on me from day one and Im glad you like what I sent you. It just seems to have a very moving thread to it that I can see it having me in tears thru out the performance.
I may be wrong but I really want to like what I get to see.

Oh no, I'm really out of step. I think it looks and sounds horrid- the montage is giving me flashbacks to over-earnest, under-written shows at the Piccadilly in the 90s. I shall give it a go, but some of those lyrics are already making me shudder, ('they've been upset'- upset???)

That's a level-headed post from Dev - now the reviews are out it seems to be the concensus of opinion. I guess I'm feeling pretty emotional about this show - two of my best friends are from families of Holocaust survivors.

I don't like this show, the music would have been perfect for 20 years ago, but let's face it, it wont appeal to teenagers, who at the moment are keeping some shows alive, and based on the reviews, it doesn't appeal to adults either, I would be surprised if the show was still there next year!

2 and a half hours!

I went last night and I think the last half hour of act 2 made it worth seeing- I was meant to be making notes for my review but just sat there not moving and almost crying!

The first act took a while to get into, the long dialogue heavy scene after the prologue dragged a lot and much of the comedy in that scene just didn't work. The characters of Salome and Pompey seemed rather pointless, Pompey's song being far too long and taking away from the atmosphere of the show.
But then there were also some fantastic songs in the first act (notably Masada, Imagine This and some of Tamar and Silva's bits, sorry don't have the program with me) and for once almost all the chorus songs involved harmony!! Which makes me very happy.

Was slightly dismayed to see quite a few empty seats, at least 8 just in my row, especially as it was only second night.

Whoa!
That was bloody hard work.
This show will be remembered for trying, maybe trying too hard.
I've quietly taken the album in the last few months and secretly looked forward to how it was on stage- I'm now bitterly disappointed. There are some wonderful performances there and they have a very hard time working with some of the most boring material since 'Gone With The Wind'- at times I began to wish we were watching Darius doing his thing.
The set is superb but very static, not typical of Eugene Lee.
The orchestra sounded rather muffled and almost taped at times, this is what took the whole thing away for me as it sounds so wonderful on the album.
The audience seemed to sit there in semi stunned silence and thats pretty much how they reacted to the curtain call.
The critics were spot on with this one and I don't see this running very long into 2009. They comped 300 seats tonight!

Mama, they comped 300 seats? Wasn't that only the third night? And it's quite a small theatre too, if I may add.

Man, it ain't gonna last past the year and that's really a pity.
In Soviet Russia, Wicked hates you too!
