Corr At The Old Vic

Andrea Corr of brother and sister pop act 'The Corrs' is to make her West End debut next year in the Old Vic's production of Brial Friels award winning, 'Dancing At Lughnasa' along side fellow Irish actress Niamh Cusack. The play opens in mid Feb for 8 weeks.
The play was originally staged at the National Theatre in 1990 before transfering to the Garrick and Duke Of York's theatres for continuously extended seasons. It then played very successfully on Broadway before being made into a great movie starring Meryl Streep and Kathy Burke.
I remember when the play first arrived in London nobody would admit or even try to pronounce the name of title!!! Took me weeks!

I honestly don't think she's done that much apart from a few bit parts in Irish movies.
A lot of fuss was made about her brief appearance in 'Evita' but that was 12 years ago!
she was also in 'The Commitments' back in the earl 90s.

I love Dancing at Lughnasa. When I was a kid in Cobh we used to have Lughnasa bonfires. It was the only time I ever ate marshmallows.

Thanks, I think! I actually looked up Lughnasa and it appears to be a pagan festival... fine behaviour for a good Catholic family. No burning effigies or anything awful, although me and my cousin did burn a blanket while trying to send smoke signals once. Nah, just had a big bonfire and ate marshmallows.

The worrying thing is I was stone cold sober then and I'm stone cold sober now.
