Grease v Joseph#1

I have noticed on the official London Theatre website that Grease is now being sold at 50% off (still not tempted though), with the Aldelphi being a bigger house than the Piccadilly and that Joseph is not for sale, nor listed on TKTS.

Can we now declare Joe as the winner?

I think Joseph won from the start, in terms of ratings, sales, leads etc.

I think both shows are stinkers. At least GREASE was a decent enough show - once. Over the years this show as been packaged and remounted so many times it bears little resemblence to what it was.

GIVE US BACK OUR THEATRES! NOW!!!!!
A young actress with Noel coward after a dreadful opening night performance said to him 'Well, i knew my lines backwards this morning!'' Noels fast reply was ''Yes dear, and thats exactly how you said them tonight'!'

I saw Joseph and Grease two nights, one after the other, last summer. I definitely preferred Joseph. Frankly, neither would get into my list of favourite musicals, but Lee Mead was good, as was Preeya Kalidas. Half decent production values (music was cat though). Compare Grease, everything was poor except Susan McFadden. Although I did meet Arlene Phillips and David Ian, so it wasn't all bad.
The rain we knew is a thing of the past -
deep-delving, dark, deliberate you would say
browsing on spire and bogland; but today
our sky-blue slates are steaming in the sun,
our yachts tinkling and dancing in the bay
like racehorses. We contemplate at last
shining windows, a future forbidden to no one.
