'Sunday' slays them on Broadway#1

I've just been reading the truly amazing reviews for the New York transfer of 'Sunday In The Park With George' that opened last night at Studio 54. Its just been extended by 2 weeks but thats it for Jenna Russell as she has prior commitments in the UK. Cast change may happen maybe if it sells well.
I wonder if this will prompt a second season back in the West End??

Congrats to all involved in SITPG for getting those brillianr reviews, unfortunately I missed seeing SITPWG at the Menier and the Wyndham's though I have the cast recording which is wonderful. Jenna Russell was brilliant when i saw Guys and Dolls so I'm glad she's got the recognition she deserves.

The Menier is becoming a bit of a power house for musicals and plays at the mo.

Congrats on all the raves. Does anyone else find in intresting that Emma William was there with Sam Buntrock at Opening Night, and then there is talk of a cast change? If this did happen, I would HAVE to go to NY! I wish all the cast good luck for the rest of the run.

I hope some agreement can be made as to Jenna Russell's plans if she wants to win the Tony that I believe she deserves. She really is amazing and so is Daniel Evans. (Thank you for sending us quality performers!) They need to be here through the Tonys-remember Patti LuPone is competing with her for the Tony, as is Kelly O'Hara and many other actresses.

I really wanted to see Sunday, was hoping for a miraculous extension on broadway until December, but maybe a return to the West End would suit me!
The rain we knew is a thing of the past -
deep-delving, dark, deliberate you would say
browsing on spire and bogland; but today
our sky-blue slates are steaming in the sun,
our yachts tinkling and dancing in the bay
like racehorses. We contemplate at last
shining windows, a future forbidden to no one.

musicalfan07: thanks for posting. As good as Jenna was/is in G&D and Sunday, I think Emma is even more extraordinary and stupendous. If that does happen then you're right - definitely worth crossing the Atlantic for.

Two things!
It needs to extend-its doing 100% better bizz than expected for a show with a limited audience.
It needs to recast cos Jenna cant stay anything more than 3 weeks extra unless she ditches a lucrative TV contract and an exciting new theatre project for June/ July onwards!
Jenna- the choice is yours!

Just to let you know, Emma was in New York with no purpose of playing Dot, but of being with her boyfriend. It's highly unlikely now that my 'theory' will become a reality.
