The cast pics look fantastic and i am really looking forward to this. My only niggle with it was the score. I saw the show in New York a couple od years ago and i wasnt that impressed, however i loved the original John Waters movie. How well the new musical is gonna hold up against the orginal film is another matter.

Just look at The Producers. Fantastic movie mad into a great stage show, then turned into another movie.

Like that movie i think people are gonna compare the new Hairspary to the orginal film and not the stage show. You have to remember tht half of the people going to see this probably dont even know there is a stage version!

All that aside though i have faith in Adam Shankman, and Travolta looks great.

I love the score to this

Its simple and commercial (the producers score is pretty weak) it also captures the era well.
Also remember the original film wassnt that big a hit (its s a cult hit).

I think with the csating of people like phiffer and travolta it will do well with a mainstream audience(broderick and lane arent big box office names) and with people like latifa and zach they should get the younger crowd in.

Plus if anyone can pull this off it will be the amazing New Line Cinema

I think it will be a hit

roll on july

Well I disagree with you on a couple of points. The score 'The Producers' is far stronger than Hairspray, and Travolta and Pfieffer havent had a hit in years, but i dont think people will rush and go and see it because of them.

The trick to making this movie work will be the combination of the script script and placement of musical numbers. We should be safe in the hands of Leslie Dixon though who is co-writing the script.

At the end of the day its all personal opinion and i suppose i'm just not a huge fan of the stage show, but at least Adam Shankman is a hell of a lot better than Susan Stroman.

you must be mad if you think the score for the producers is better.
I love the producers i do but the songs are pretty bad ,out of everyone i know who has seen the producers they all said the score was very poor.
They are about 2 standout songs

Like I said before it's all down to personal opinion.

No, no, it's not down to personal opinion. It's a fact that the score to the Producers is vastly superior to that of Hairspary re: hairspray film-get excited

I hope it's a success, but if not many people went to the original film (which was fantastic), then who's going to see a musical version of it?

Anyway, hopefully it's a better movie of the musical than The Producers was.

Travolta looks like La Streisand in "Meet the Fockers" re: hairspray film-get excited
