Evita recording delayed.#0

Can anyone tell me why the cast recording of Evita is delayed till August 7th. I have been looking forward to this recording for months and to have this happened is a living nightmare. On top of that I'm in the states and can't afford to come to the UK to see the show. Can someone please make sense of the madness?

I can't tell you why, but I can giggle at your choice of words. It's really NOT the end of the world, just another few weeks wait. XD

Actually can see where he’s coming from as we only have the Madonna version or Elaine P. No offence to Elaine but would rather have ELENA ROGER to listen to!
So can see where your coming from!

I found Elena Roger shrill and unintelligible and the production anodyne - I'll happily avoid this one.

You dont know what youre on about (unless youre talking specifically about your own record collection). There's Julie Covington, Patti Lupone, Elaine Paige and Madonna. So, its not only Elaine and Madge.

I've been told by a reliable source that it will be on sale starting Monday. When I went to Amazon to pre-order, I noticed that the shipping time was 4-6 weeks. I haven't had a chance to check and see if HMV will ship it sooner than that or not.

I pre-ordered my album back in June from Amazon.com/uk because amazon.com does not have it. They told me it was "a suprise sell out" and they had not preordered as many. Anyway that's why it may be taking so long to get it out. So i just cancelled my order and order from the show's website. Let's hope it gets here soon.

got it today, but have a question for those of you on the other side of the Pond.
I notice a section missing in Rainbow Tour, which was in the original Broadway production, the part that goes something like this

"who the Hell does the King of England think he is?
Tea at some tinpot castle of his,
What kind of invitation is that?
Argentina's First Lady deserves Buckingham Palace.
If England doesn't need Argentina
then Argentina doesn't need England!"

Why was this left off?

Alas, there’s so much missing from this Highlights recording: ‘Peron’s Latest Flame’, ‘The Actress Hasn’t Learned…’, ‘Santa Evita’, ‘Dice are Rolling’, ‘Eva’s Final Broadcast’… ‘A New Argentina’ has been drastically shortened and there’s no trace of either Peron’s speeches or the scenes featuring Eva and Peron planning their political strategy - all so meaningful to the story. What a missed opportunity.

The Philip Quast Guide have started a petition to the producers of the CD, in order to show popular demand for a Complete Recording of the show. More details at this link:

I totally agree with Etabeta2. After seeing the show i couldnt wait to get my copy, and when it did finally arrive i was pretty annoyed with the result. They have tried to squeeze as much onto one disc probably to save costs. I work in the Film Industry and produce DVD's which is very similar.

I wouldnt worry though. I bet that The Really Useful Company havent forgotten. They'll wait until we've all bought it,and then release a 2 Disc Special edition prior to a possible Broadway Transfer. That's what i'd do.

Its all about making money unfortunately.
