As of today, a new ending to the show is to be in place in the London production for the last 10 days of the run.

Colour me intirgued!

Now we had a very detailed (and ok quite silly) disscussion about 'what happens next' following the show, I'm going to have to revise my theories (and my planned musical 'Son of a Phantom')

Seriously though I'm guessing someone else gets on the wrong end of a gun? or someone else is holding a gun? That dog pops up at the end and howls the title song?

*SPOILERS*

I can't imagine that anyone except Christine would die...Hmm, I'm not seeing it 'til next Saturday, so I'll try and avoid finding out what the ending is before then!

I'm still annoyed that one of the reviews spoiled the ending for me! But seriously no, can't imagine that actually changing. Added dialogue fleshing out the last scene maybe? something about other characters in the last scene?

**MAJOR SPOILERS**

Apparently Christine survives.

I say APPARENTLY - that's what I heard from WOS, but not necessarily true.

Mme Giry confesses she had a fling with Christine's dad and Meg turns out to be her half-sister. Christine is overjoyed.

The Phantom realises he cannot keep up the pretence any longer, comes out of the closet and declares his love for Raoul. They walk off-stage hand in hand

It now ends on a cliffhanger and the final curtain drops to reveal the words: 'Coming Soon - Phantom 3: Raoul's Revenge'...

"Murder is a very British thing, isn't it? I mean, it's almost like a hobby over there."
"Why do you insist you must hear the words? When you know I cannot give you words. Not the ones you need..."

None of that is true. The change is relatively minor. After Christine dies, the Phantom, having Gustave with him, sings a reprise of "Love Never Dies." It's a nice little change but doesn't affect the overall story in any way.

Leonardo2, I've seen the show a couple of times, actually. I'm quite certain I can imagine it quite well, and to me it sounds very tacky. Nothing about this show is 'poignant'.

Ugly Duckling... if you dislike the show so much, why waste your time posting on threads about it that are trying to keep out the negativity? And why bother seeing it 'a couple of times'? If you're just here to beat up the show, save it and trot on over to that hater website.

Oh dear this thread is amusing me!

Personally I want to see Raoul and the Phanotom run away together.

Leonardo2 get a grip, its just a bit of fun. Its a rubbish show with a couple of nice songs. People can comment where they want and in what thread they want as its a public board.
The LND fans really need to lighten up

Now if they can only change the other 150 minutes. This proves that ALW is certifiably insane. I hope the 400 people attending each of the last performances are thrilled with the new ending.

What I think is a reliable source described the change like this:

"The change is that the Phantom sings a passionate bit of "Love Never Dies" to Gustave when Christine passes. (Well, not TO Gustave, but you know what I mean). A relatively minor change and it's actually quite poignant. "
