PLEASE DELETE THREAD.#1
Posted: 4/1/11 at 2:40am
Ramin Karimloo has just said on Twitter:

"It breaks my heart to have to report this, but Love Never Dies will be closing in London when I leave the show in September...thanks to all the fans who have given us support over the past year and who will continue to do so through the summer. RK x"

I honestly did think it would close THIS soon, I thought the main negative thing was the reviews. I hope we see this tour or have some sort of future life :/

If this isn't an April Fool's joke, it's still incredible that it will have lasted as long as it did.

I just checked Karimloo's tweets and cannot find any mention of it. On the LND website booking is still open till 14 january.

Booking dates mean absolutely nothing.
'Too Close To The Sun' was booking for 7 months, need I say more.

true ... and maybe karimloo deleted his tweet afterwards ... either way I don't really care what happens to LND. IF it ends its run the Adelphi would be a nice size house for a new show ... still hoping for the Addams Family (I know it's not the best Broadway's got to offer, but I really enjoyed it).

While this is obviously an April Fools joke (any announcement would come from RUG, not the cast), other message boards are already talking about it and believe that Karimloo started it, which he did not. He never tweeted that the show was closing, the quote above is completely fabricated. Would the person who started this please clear this up.

Clap
sorry to hear about the company you work for going bust and you losing your job.
Perhaps a new career as a comedy writer should be considered?

But keith, this analogy would only work if the Adelphi were to remain dark long-term when the show closed. The fact is, another show will follow swiftly after, employing a similar number of technicians, musicians and actors.

In fact, there is an argument for more frequent closings, because far more people are employed in the fit-up and preview period when a new show opens than in the midst of a long run. Therefore, a show closing heralds untold new employment possibilities.

So if a show has been poorly constructed and fails to entertain a wide audience, its demise heralds hope for a better prospect. We shouldn't encourage a sentimental, protectionist attitude towards mediocre or unwanted productions.

That wasn't the point I was making at all. I have a friend in the cast and while I enjoy a clever April Fools joke as much as the next person, to post such a blatent mistruth tarted up as fact, which affects peoples livelihoods and reputation (Karimloo), isn't that amusing.
Would you wnat to hear that you were going to be made redundant not from your employer but via a website even if it were true?

I see what you mean- and actually I agree it was a little unfair on Mr Karimloo.

Still, I would hope that the LND cast were well aware that they were likely targets for April Fools Day japes.

I would be very very surprised if this rumour reached the Love Never Dies cast at all. Most people here with a sense of humour knew that this was simply an April Fools joke, and meant nothing personal to Mr Karimloo or directly to the show.

I mean, look underneath this message and you'll see that Love Never Dies is one of my favourite musicals ever. Besides which, Mr Karimloo is one of my favourite performers in the West-End at the moment.

Seriously, if you have an issue, you needn't - calm down.

Anyone who follows Ramin on Twitter would know thats not how he tweets or signs off so would have been a joke, but yes the rumour did reach the cast, and a disclaimer was even made on his official facebook site. Precaution Id guess.

Yes, the LSD haters picked up on it pretty quick and believed that Karimloo really did make the announcement. The joke was funny in that you got their hopes up, but since Karimloo had to clear things up... maybe not the best thought out?
