Look at all the announcements- casting for How to Succeed, Death of a Salesman, Donny & Marie (obviously the high-brow act of that trio).

Is anything exciting happening in London at the moment?

I get the feeling that all producers have been holding off making annoucements pending the outcome of the Spending Review, which was announced today.

The economic uncertainty which surrounded this annoucement has made many people who invest money in the srts very wary.

Perhaps 2011 will be kinder and permit some brave producers to announce new shows. If all else fails we do have 'Footlose' going out in 2011!!

The austerity cuts are very deep indeed. The BBC alone will experience a 25% cut in its world services effecting much of it's foreign language divisions. Who knows what it will mean to live theatre? I hope everyone remembers that the Arts - visual and performing - actually boost the economy.

I'm sure I read somewhere that the income generated by the arts (tax paid by performers and crew, revenue generated from tourism etc) is larger than the government arts subsidy!

"Murder is a very British thing, isn't it? I mean, it's almost like a hobby over there."
"Why do you insist you must hear the words? When you know I cannot give you words. Not the ones you need..."
