Avenue Q has had a brilliant run, much better than they could ever have hoped, and I love Bill Bailey so personally I'm very happy with this arrangement! Bill Bailey follows Avenue Q

Who is he?
What is he?
He never seems to be out of the West End!

This must be his 4th or 5th West End run in as many years- must be doing something right!
He looks rather bizarre.

Seriously, Mama, for someone who talks about the glory days of West End comedian runs, how do you NOT know who Bill Bailey is?

For those of you who are three steps out of line with pop culture (aka most show queens), Bill Bailey is a well known stand up who's done a number of TV shows (he was the assistant in Black Books and the comic shop owner in Spaced), and is not only very, very funny, but also incredibly well versed in classical music. His last series of shows was backed by an orchestra, where he did a comedic breakdown of the symphony.

Thanks, exedore! Thought for a moment I was in the one corner of the world where no-one had heard of Bill Bailey. Bill Bailey follows Avenue Q

I can see why his type of comedy might not be to everyone's tastes, but having said that I don't think I've ever known anyone who's seen him and not liked him. You're right about his musical talent - really adds a lot to his shows. It was actually my slightly mad gay music teacher at school who introduced me (not literally, sadly) to Bill Bailey.

And yes, he does look rather bizarre, bearing more than a passing resemblance to one of Star Trek's Klingons.

Human slaves... in an insect nation! AAAAAAAAAH.

Bill Bailey has perfect pitch and is a consummate musician of the highest order. He's also hysterically funny (I still crack up at Kraftwerk doing the Hokey Cokey). Must get my arse in gear for this one, I completely missed Tinselworm for no good reason.

Might consider heading to London for this one too - managed to catch a few of his stand up tours before, as well as the fantastic 'Guide to the Orchestra' with the BBC Concert Orchestra and Ann Dudley, and his 'homecoming' gig in Bristol a few months ago...

I love Bill Bailey! I saw him when he did Part Troll and it was very funny. May see Dandelion Mind as a birthday treat to myself.

There are some standups who I'm kind of surprised haven't done West End runs, Dara O'Briain would easily sell a West End run given he's played to huge theatres like the Hammersmith Apollo.

Can't speak for anyone else but it was his stage shows that I first knew him for - DVDs of them, anyway. That's how he made his name in the mid 90s, TV came later. Though I'm sure many people now do know him because of his TV work.

Maybe I'll grab a DVD and see what I think.
I live in spain and am probably the only English person there that doesn't have the wonders of UK TV!
Far too much culture going on ('Ave Q' 2mrw!) going on for me to get that ugly little dish stuck to my apartment wall!

If you're going to watch one of his shows I'd recommend Part Troll. As mentioned above, Kraftwerk doing the Hokey Cokey is genuinely unforgettable. Bill Bailey follows Avenue Q

Dammit, I think I'm about to get caught in a Bill Bailey YouTube loop. Cockney influences on classical music to start with, methinks...

I went to his Part Troll show. By the second half my stomach hurt from laughing. Love him!
