Here's one for you, Mama James Corden to star in 'A Servant Of Two Masters' at the National

Richard Bean's revised version of Carlo Goldini's A Servant of Two Masters will feature James Corden in the title role, reports Whatsonstage.com. The production, directed by Nicolas Hynter, is scheduled to open in May 2011 at the National Theatre's Lyttleton Theatre.

Corden last performed at the National Theatre as Timms in Alan Bennett's The History Boys, a role which he originated, performed on a world tour, on Broadway and on film. His performance in The History Boys led to more screen opportunities, including How to Lose Friends and Alienate People, Lesbian Vampire Killers and Mike Leigh's All of Nothing. Corden is also known for his work on the TV series Gavin and Stacey, for which he is both a co-writer and actor.

A Servant of Two Masters tells the story of Trffualdino (played by Corden) who is forced to use disguises, wit and lies to keep his two new masters from discovering that he has taken up two seperate serving jobs on the same day.

I don't know the piece so can't comment on James Cordens suitability to it but I do think he is a far better writer and actor than he is stand up comedian. So I'm prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt and wish him well.

It's Hytner directing a farce from the pen of Richard Bean and starring James Corden. How *could* anyone have anything nice to say? D:

Amen Weez!

I saw the touring production of 'A servant...' with Les Dennis a couple of years back and it was painful. While I don't activly dislike Cordon, parting with money to see him is not high on my agenda!
Maybe I'm on nobody's side http://phdconfessions.blogspot.com/
