8th January 2011.

Apparently the cast only found out when new posters were issued, which stated 'final performance 8th January 2011'!!

Well we knew it was coming. Now come on Grease, do us all a favour?

Anyways, this leaves the Drury Lane wide open for Shrek now.

^Tap Dogs is a limited Summer season.

I think WWRY will be around for some time yet, and Jersey Boys is more likely to transfer to a smaller Del Mack theatre than close completely. Can't see Dreamboats getting another extension, it's sales are appalling.

Add to that list Avenue Q is only booking until September, might be time the pull is plugged there too (although I hope not). Also add to those Dirty Dancing could well be on the way out within the next year.

The West End will look very different this time next year.

Oliver has had a good run, were any cast contracted beyond Jan?

Dreamboats is just the current booking period.

Tapdogs was always just 12 weeks.

Apparently Lauren from Dorothy is going in to Grease so i guess its still not closing.

I didnt know fair had announced - yahoooooooo.

Also they had auditions for WWRY sometime last week and with Brenda Edwards covering for Mazz Murray I don't think it's going anywhere. I think with the 1 YEAR anniversary of Michael Jackson's death people will go to thriller live.

As this thread is already moving into just a general "closing" thread, how is Legally Blonde selling, I LOVE it, but I never expected it to last past a year and I'd be amazed if it was selling brilliantly!

Legally Blonde is selling very well actually, didnt they just extend the booking period again because its doing so well. I would not be suprised if thats around for a good couple of years.

I went to blonde for the cheap matinee the week before half term and it was busy, 2 school groups and an adult coach party. But it and almost everything else has massive discounts at the mo, it will be interesting to see what survives.

Legally Blonde only needs to bring in around 25k a performance to break even. Even if the house is half full it would probably make that, and Merchandise alone must bring in an absolute bomb.

LB is doing fine, not a sellout but doing well enough. Although such a large extension is usually not a strong sign as we all know.
Yeah I wasnt aware Fun of the Fair had announced closing?!

'All The Fun Of The Fair' was announced as a limited run. I remember seeing signs saying September 4th.

Has that changed?

Sept 4th is its closing date but don't hold your breat. One thing is is that David Essex has a tour lined up for the autumn. Remember they want to get 'Lend Me A Tenor' in there.

Dirty Dancing is going nowhere for the next 12 months, and I expect it has no plans to move way beyond that.

Do we feel another Oliver! tour coming on?

Can't say I'm dissapointed that Oliver is closing - the Drury Lane production was nowhere near as good as the earlier incarnation at the Palladium some years ago.

Shrek will open March/April 2011 at The Drury Lane, expect an announcement by September alongside a formal announcement for Oliver! closure.

Nice to see big family shows opening in London with money behind them. I think Shrek will do well and cash in on advance sales with the film's success.

Another certain hit, I'd say, is the musical adaptation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - set to open end of 2011. So 2011 looks set to be a good year!

Also next year we have Cam Mac's Betty Blue Eyes...

Shame about this year it has to be said.

All the fun of the fair is off Sept 4th and as Mama says, Lend me a Tenor is expected to open up there, which I am looking forward to.

If 42nd Street can find a theatre, I know Chichester are hoping to transfer this in, but suitable theatres are not a plenty.

I think Love Never Dies, Grease, Thriller will be off and WWRY and Dirty Dancing a possibility. Jersey Boys I think will transfer to the Gielgud next year.

Two years is still a great run for Oliver! considering The Drury Lane is hard to fill. I'm not sure how Shrek will do here but if they market it like they did with Legally Blonde, it can be a success.

If Matilda does well at Stratford Upon Avon, I wonder if a West End transfer could happen. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory could work as a musical although I imagine they would have to triple cast the kids and get a name for Willy Wonka.

29th March. Apparently one of the other kids was struggling so they brought him back.
