So far Shiela Hancock and Debbie Kurup are the only confirmed cast leaving the show. Anyone else have any idea who else is leaving?

It's not that closing is definitely on New Year's Day - that's just how long the current set of cast contracts/extensions run until, as I understand it.

Realistically, given that it's almost certain that Wizard of Oz will shunt it out the closing date will be in advance of that.

Isn't "Shrek the Musical" also competing for the London Palliadium.

Wizard of Oz will take the Palladium as Sister Act is not selling to full potential, so likely to close later this year.

Shrek will take The theatre Royal once Oliver has run out of steam, which may also be very late this year or early next year, tickets are still selling well for Oliver.

They have two dates that have been given as the closing of the London production- Jan 1st and 8th. The show is now certainly running until one of these two dates.

As has been said many times before - the date a show is booking until and the closure date are not the same thing. Many shows have been booking till a date far in the future but close long before. I am not saying that this will happen with Sister Act but it is a possibilty.

'Dame Edna' was booking till July 18th. Not now!
'Too Close To The Sun' Was booking for 3 months. It didn't.
Contracts and booking periods are 100% different items.

The longer it stays the better, in my view (although I know this is not a view shared by all). At least I know it'll be there for my Birthday next week Sister Act Cast Change 2010

Whenever it does close, I hope it does make its planned trip across the Atlantic. It will then be time for me to make my triumphant return to New York. Also this may give it the opportunity to make a few changes to make it a show which more people agree is great. Then maybe one day it could come back to London and get a much longer run which I believe it really deserves.

20 months at the 2500 seat Palladium is a god send for most productions.

I think you're right, but I can't help worrying that in a few years time - unless it makes a huge impact in NY - that it'll be all but forgotten about, apart from a few diehards.

It just saddens me I guess, because the first time I saw it, I had not fallen in love with a show so much since 1991 (when I was 5.

If it is to be EP (which, I hope it isn't as she is no longer the draw she once was!) she will be for a "limited period".

I cannot see this show lasting beyond September. The producers will see how it sells to holiday audiences/tourists in the summer months. This may also impact upon its planned transfer to NY and I suspect that it will tour nationally in the US rather than risk a Broadway 'failure' label.

Please don't get me wrong, I really loved this show but it hasn't made the audience connection that many had hoped for.
