Source close to the production has said they are opening at the Palladium. Show due to open in November.

Shrek is more than likley taking the Drury Lane, but probably looking at a more March 2011 opening than hoped for end of 2010 opening.

If Shrek weren't produced by Dreamworks then I would say that there is no way in hell that the show would be doing a transfer due to how much money they lost on Broadway.

If Shrek takes the Drury Lane, where would Oliver go? Not many shows can fill that space and I thought Oliver was doing well.

I'm guessing Oliver! will close but it has had a good run especially at a barn like The Drury Lane.

Wizard of Oz at the Palladium doesn't surprise me and I had a feeling it would go there.

with the amount of expsure these reality show gets, it is no surprise the producers want such a big theatre, they have always done so in the past, I guess the market is there for a limited time only, so guess they want to cash in quickly.

Costs to run the show are very high.

I can imagine Oliver! is very expensive because they have to cast three sets of children plus the large sets and orchestra, it is probably a reason why Cameron has never transferred it to Broadway because the costs would be too much.

Contracts are thru till September as Ive said on here before. He said he would probably close it around then. a number of people I know in it are seeing it close after Christmas.
'Shrek' will not open in the UK until Spring 2011, I was told that by people on the show while in New York last year.

It would be silly to have a family friendly show close before Xmas.

I do wonder if Shrek will miss a lot of target hype market off the back of the new film opening Summer 2010...

The first Shrek is great but they really milked it dry with Shrek 2 and Shrek the Third and thankfully the next film is the last although they are doing a Puss in Boots film.

I really hope Dreamworks don't ever consider doing musicals based on their other films.

If Andrew Lloyd Webber could only get Trevor Nunn to direct a darker version of 'The Wizard Of Oz', now wouldn't that be wicked?!?
