So, apparently owing to Alexia Khadime's ongoing attendance trouble, she's been given leave for a while, and Ashleigh Gray will play Elphaba with the fabulous Shona White standing by for her.

Has anyone heard if this is for certain, and if so, how long Ms Khadime will be away for?

She seemed kinda gutted to not be doing it, if that's any consolation.

I hope she gets the opportunity to play Elphaba in London some day. I saw her in 9 to 5 and thought she was exceptional.

Stephanie J Block would have made me see the show again after a very long time. It seemed like she really wanted to do it (well that's what I got from the article)

It's easier for Shona to come on board because it's probably much cheaper (for lack of a better word) and can be if needed for a much longer time.

I haven't seen Wicked in London for over a year but Stephanie would have made me go back at a moments notice. I'm disappointed she's not doing it and quite frankly would rather have not known it was so close to being possible

I always thought Stephanie was a great singer but not so hot when it comes to acting.

I saw Stephanie in Wicked in Chicago and she was sensational both in acting and singing. And she definitely rose above the material she was given for Pirate Queen.
