The much acclaimed, multi award winning production of 'War Horse' is to open in New York in 2010.
The National Theatre production which is currently playing at the New London theatre is likely to open at the Viv Beaumont theatre in New York's Lincoln Centre.

2011 not 2010....I still need to see this in London. I had no interest in it before the buzz this is starting to get is making me think I really should!

Surprised it might be going to the Vivian Beaumont theatre (a great house), thought South Pacific was doing so well, it prob run for another 2-3 years?

This is 2 years away, 'South Pacific' will have gone within the next year.

I had a hunch that War Horse would transfer, the Vivian Beaumount would be perfect as it's a thrust stage like the Olivier and the New London.

The other option, the Park Avenue Armory seems interesting as well but I don't know much about it.

I think South Pacific will be gone by 2010 but a two year run is still good especially as it was only meant to be a limited engagement.

From the website, it seems like it's an ex-armoury which is being used as a performing arts venue. Not sure how they could convert it for War Horse but if the Roundhouse can be turned into a performing space for the Histories then anything's possible.

That is incredible! I'm surprised it has been knocked down to make a shopping mall.

Anyone see this in its original run, with Luke Treadaway? I've been a big fan of his movie work (Brothers of the Head, Clapham Junction) and was wondering how he is on stage.

He's awesome. I'm not a big fan of the current Albert, but Treadaway was great in the role (although most of the human roles in this play are pretty thankless!).

I really liked Kit Harington as Albert. The only thing that irked me about War Horse was the Bronagh Gallagher as his mother. I don't know if she'd been oat the National, but she was very shouty with a vile Derry accent. Having said that, she was spot on emotionally.

That whole production yanked at my heartstrings with brutal force, and with that combined with the breathtaking design and direction, I cried through most of the production and most of the way home. One of very few shows that comepletely overwhelmed me. It's stunning.
