Award-winning filmmaker and photographer Sekou Luke (Notes from Harlem) and noted music journalist Christian John Wikane (PopMatters) presented "Unscripted" Live at the Apollo Theater Soundstage on Monday night (May 23). It marked the first live edition of their video interview series "Unscripted: Conversations with Christian John Wikane."

Tony Award winner Melba Moore appeared as the evening's surprise emcee and introduced the program, which featured Christian's one-on-one interview with GRAMMY-winning legend Ruth Pointer of The Pointer Sisters plus the premiere of a short film directed by Sekou Luke that celebrates Season 2 of "Unscripted." Original Ikette Joshie Jo Armstead, Cory Daye (co-founder and lead vocalist of Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band), and SAG-AFTRA's vice president for recording artists and singers Janice Pendarvis joined Christian for a talkback following the screening.
Produced by Sekou Luke and Christian John Wikane, "Unscripted" spotlights the stories of legendary and innovative artists, their resilience, and their creative regeneration. Sekou and Christian launched the series in April 2020 with Nona Hendryx and have also featured interviews with Ruth Pointer, Melba Moore, Kathy Sledge, André De Shields, Valerie Simpson, Fonzi Thornton, Bruce Sudano, Van Hunt, Rahsaan Patterson, Lisa Fischer, Joshie Jo Armstead, Cory Daye, Janice Pendarvis, Ray Shell and Christian Holder. The first two seasons of Unscripted have generated more than 330,000 views and more than 600,000 minutes of viewer engagement on YouTube.
