ClickB@it is a devised, sketch comedy-style show inspired by The Internet, a magical, mythical place where catz rule and trollz drool. ClickB@it examines how internet click bait and viral phenomena shape media, permeate social development, and exacerbate news headline numbness—all delivered with a fun, pop-y, sketch sensibility. With just one click, hilarity ensues in this audience-driven, madcap romp!
This world-premiere production was conceived by Rachael Murray and devised by the ensemble. A workshop reading of the piece was first performed at NextStop Theatre Company’s darknights series in 2016, where the show was lauded by one audience member as, “the funniest thing I’ve ever seen.” Another reading was then presented at the Kennedy Center Page-to-Stage Festival later that year, where another audience member called the piece “scary.” Naked Theatre Company will present this zany, tech-inspired satire as a full production (revised since the readings) at Capital Fringe 2017.This production presented as a part of the 2017 Capital Fringe Festival, a program of the Washington, DC non-profit Capital Fringe.
