Manila, Philippines, December 12, 2013--BARBIE LIVE!, the musical, follows the story of Barbie (Chelsea Rae Bernier) and her best friend Teresa (Kristina Miller) who are both starring in their new Hollywood movie. But when Teresa becomes uncertain of accepting the role assigned to her--doubting her talent--Barbie comes to the rescue. Barbie then starts to tell stories of the "Swan Lake," "Mariposa" and "Princess and the Popstar" to teach Teresa to be confident and believe in herself. Teresa eventually accepts the role as Barbie's co-star.

BARBIE LIVE!, the musical, has incorporated Barbie's widely popular DVDs "Swan Lake," "Mariposa and Fairy Princess" and "Princess and the Popstar" into a live theater production. On opening day (December 11), these parts in the show allowed the young girls in the audience to sing along with Barbie and Teresa. The audience obviously had fun watching Barbie come to life in her colorful costumes and the production's magical sets.

The musical, produced by EMS Entertainment and Mattel Live Entertainment, which had its world premiere in Singapore's Marina Bay Sands last September, continues its Asian tour in Manila at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena until Sunday, December 15.

Performances in Taiwan are set Friday, January 3 to Sunday, January 12; performances in Australia from Friday, April 4 to Sunday, April 27.

BARBIE LIVE!, which features 19 actors and dancers, is choreographed and directed by Kobi Rozenfeld and written by Obie Award-winning actress Diane Rodriguez, with music and musical direction by Robbie Roth ("Flashdance"), set design by Stanley A. Meyer (Disney's "Beauty and the Beast"), lighting design by Jesse Blevins and Peter Morse, costume design by Aviad Arik Herman ("Miss Universe") and sound design by Kai Harada.
