The ever youthful Linda Purl - star of stage, screen, and television - brought summer to a close with her show "Big Band Romance" at Feinstein's/54 Below in midtown Manhattan.

Accompanied by the Diva Jazz Orchestra with guest conductor/pianist Tedd Firth the show harkens back to the days of Big Brass Bands with Girl Singers at the mic (and in this case behind the musical instruments).

Celebrating the likes of Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and especially Linda's own friend Rosemary Clooney this show brings the classic American songbook and places it joyfully at the bouncing feet of the audience.

Highlights included such memorable tunes as "Them There Eyes", "When The Sun Comes Out", "It's Too Darn Hot/It's Alright With Me", "My Romance", and an energetic duet of "Come Rain Or Come Shine" with a special guest singer - Television and Broadway leading man Tom Wopat.

Tedd Firth conjures real magic at the keyboard and Sherrie Maricle & The Diva Jazz Orchestra bring an energy and excitement to the big band style music.
All combined to let Linda Purl's smooth and confident singing style come to the fore and remind the audience of rarer days of starry nightclub outings.
