Rehearsals are underway for The Barn Stage Company's upcoming production of the Tony-nominated Broadway musical Little Women, the second production in their 2017/18 season from the partnership with Temecula Presents.

Based on Louisa May Alcott's classic 1869 novel, the show which has a book by Allan Knee, with lyrics by Mindi Dickstein and music by Jason Howland, is due to play the Old Town Temecula Theatre venue from 11 January to the 21.

Against the backdrop of Civil War, aspiring writer Jo hides from life's difficulties in her attic and pens stories of adventure. With her father away, Jo and her sisters must learn to negotiate love, loss and life under the ever-loving watch of their beloved Marmee. But despite tragedy and heartbreak, the March sisters discover that in reality the true adventure is life itself.

Based loosely on her own life, and her relationship with her family, Louisa May Alcott wrote the books that have inspired millions of children to challenge stereotypes. This much-loved musical adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's classic novel is suitable for all The Family and reminds us that sometimes when you dream, your dreams come true.

The original broadway production opened in 2005 with Tony Award winner Sutton Foster as Jo. The show features the popular female audition song 'Astonishing' as well as other numbers including: 'Better', 'Some Things are Meant to Be' and 'Days of Plenty'.

The March sisters, Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy, will be played by Reanne Acasio (Heathers the Musical, (w)holeness, Spelling Bee); Sydney Rose Hover (Dogfight, Godspell, Proof); Katie Perry (Pirates of Penzance, Beauty & The Beast, Thoroughly Modern Millie); and Olivia Hodson (The Fantasticks, Fiddler on the Roof, My Fair Lady).

The cast also includes: Joshua David Cavanaugh (First Date, Pump Up The Volume, Light in the Piazza) as Professor Bhaer, Eloise Coopersmith as Aunt March (The Full Monty, Company, Mary Poppins); Ethan Park as John Brooke(Peter and the Starcatcher, Phantom, The Last 5 Years); Drew Bradford as Laurie (Cabaret, On the Twentieth Century, The Fantasticks); John George Campbell as Mr. Laurence (South Pacific, Titanic the Musical, Sunset Boulevard); and Susan Jordan DeLeon* as Marmee (Beauty & The Beast, Next to Normal).

Co-produced with Temecula Presents, Little Women will be directed by J. Scott Lapp and choreographed by Chelsea Nicole Lapp with Musical Direction by Bill Brown. Costume Design by Janet Pitcher, Property Master Sheila Furtado, with Hair and Makeup by Kiana Miskel, lighting design by Joel Britt, Scenic Design by Tim Mahoney and Stage Managed by Sarah Carol Hughes. Evan D'Angeles is the Casting Director.
